Carl Martin Richardson, 57, formerly of Vardaman, MS, died February 25, 2010, at his home in Shady Valley, TN. He was born Dec. 14, 1952, to Carthel Richardson and Mary Evelyn Martin Richardson, lifelong residents of Vardaman. Carl had been suffering with multiple long term health problems for some time. His passion was music, his family, and an untold number of friends from all walks of life. Carl attended the Presbyterian Church in Shady Valley.

Survivors include his sister, Rosemary Richardson Massey of Vardaman; his brother, Stephen Hurt Richardson of Vicksburg, MS; a niece, Angela Massey Azpell of Franklin, TN; and two nephews Luke Massey of Springhill, TN, and Dr. Jon Massey of Oxford, MS; two great nephews; his dog Foxy Richardson; a special friend, Betty McCluskey, and a host of dear friends from all walks of life.

Carl's kind and gentle spirit will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

A memorial service was be held at Mountain City Funeral Home on Feb. 27, led by Dr. Tom Peake. Visitation was on Monday, March 1, at Parker Memorial Funeral Home in Vardaman, and his funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, at Vardaman First Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Gary Richardson and Rev. Dale Easley. His body was interred at Hillcrest Cemetery in Vardaman, alongside his parents.
